All our savings estimates are calculated using a typical (reference) pool (see below for details).


Of course, all pools are different and need to be assessed individually, but, based on a reference pool kept in good condition, we estimate the following savings on electricity usage and pool operation, including pool equipment servicing and chemical usage.

The savings are not a guarantee but the current best estimate for the typical user as described in the reference case, assuming that other electrical consumption does not change.  We will assess the benefits you should gain from the Pooled Energy system, when we provide you a detailed offer.  Each pool will have differences. The estimated improvements in equipment life apply to new equipment in good condition.


The reference case is for a household with a typical 50,000 Litre swimming pool, that is correctly maintained in accordance with general Pool Industry standards. It is fitted with a conventional sand filter, a 1.5 Kilowatt single-speed filter pump, a saltwater chlorinator and a pool sweep with its own 1.5 Kilowatt pump. These filter and chlorinator are run typically for periods of 8-12 hours during the swimming season and 6 hours off-season during daylight operating hours. These are operating times generally recommended by the swimming pool industry to achieve minimally adequate sanitation and water quality.


This type of household typically has electricity bills of the order of $3,000 -$5,000 per annum, although the range may vary from $2,000 to over $20,000. Such households also typically spend up to $1,000 per year (averaged over 10 years) on pool chemicals, pool salt, pool equipment repairs and replacements, and pool services from third parties (excluding cleaning).  If these pools have regular visits from a pool technician to adjust the water, then there is an average additional spend of ~a further $1,000 p.a.


The value of the Pooled Energy system will vary from house to house and pool to pool, and it ultimately arises from having efficient equipment coupled with a high level of sensing and automation in a continually-monitored, integrated system. The system provides major benefits from the automation…in time savings, trips to the pool shop, lugging chemicals home, reliability, and quality of pool water.
